Takamatsu, Kagawa boasts a large number of workation sites.
"Workation" is a portmanteau of "working" and "vacation." A workation is a vacation that allows you to work remotely from a holiday destination or tourist resort.
Shionoe Hot Spring Town in southern Takamatsu in Kagawa has been a popular destination for both locals and visitors. It is one of the designated hot spring health resorts in Shikoku. There are only two in the region. Many local hot spring facilities and restaurants are working together to provide customers with unique workation options.
Why not try a workation in a different environment and enjoy a vacation while also working remotely?
A workation site with a serene view of mountains and a reservoir at the Naiba Dam
Shionoe Hot Spring Town is only 15 minutes by car from Takamatsu Airport.

You will want to open all the windows and breathe deeply because the view from the room of the Naiba Dam reservoir surrounded by green mountains is so spectacular.
While on a workation, you tend to spend a lot of time in your room. The spacious rooms in this resort hotel are ideal for enjoying stress-free time.
The large barbecue area with gazebos and a wooden deck are perfect for a change of pace. Alternatively, you can enjoy walking along the trails around the resort.
The meeting room accommodating up to 30 people is particularly suited to corporate customers.
Hotel Second Stage is now developing more business-oriented programs to fulfill the increasing demand for social contribution in the region. Helping local residents cut bamboo while building relationships is one such example.
Family-oriented programs suitable for both children and adults are also available.
Catching dwarf rill trout by hand, which is an activity available in summer, is highly popular among children who have never consumed fish whole. The activity involves catching, skewering and grilling the fish without help, which provides children with a valuable hands-on experience with living things.
Kayaking in the Naiba Dam reservoir
Take a break and try kayaking in the Naiba Dam reservoir, an activity organized by TOPICA, a general incorporated association that runs town renewal projects in the Shionoe area.
The Naiba Dam reservoir was constructed in 1952 in the Naiba River basin. It is easier to kayak here than in a sea or river because of the calm water, making it particularly suitable for beginners and people who are uncertain of their physical strength.
You will be given safety training and learn how to paddle a kayak on the southern shore before you start out on the water.
Paddle, feel the gentle breeze blowing across the reservoir and watch flying birds. You will soon forget the bustle of everyday life and relax.
Mr. Murayama, the representative director of TOPICA, teaches classes to people who want to know more about the history and culture of Shionoe.
It is fun to paddle slowly and ponder life in Shionoe in the old days.
In about 50 minutes, you can reach the northern shore, and then you can return to the other side.
The water in the reservoir is used to grow rice in the lower reaches of the Naiba River. Rainfall and irrigation frequency influence the water level of the reservoir. Every time the water level goes up or down, the scenery changes. This is a reason why you can enjoy different scenery every time you visit.
